There is no change (yet) at my main web site, www.georgesheldon.com.  My blog remains at this site, www.georgesheldon.net.  There are other georgesheldon domains, such as georgesheldon.ws or www.georgesheldon.org, but the point to georgesheldon.com.

Over the coming weeks, there will be major changes coming to the georgesheldon sites (including the photography galleries). This is now possible because of the PhotoShelter upgrade. While my sites may be changing a bit, the contact forms will remain active and available for use. Should a link go dead or become inactive, it should be temporarily unavailable. It will be back soon.

The end result will be a larger and bigger site. Stay tuned, because here I grow!

Today’s photo is an overview of the Mud Sale held in Gordonville, near Paradise, Pennsylvania. The Plain People – the Amish and Mennonites, are known to attend these large auctions. Their support helps to benefit the local volunteer fire companies.

A variety of hex signs on a building in Lancaster County, PA

Today’s photo is a simple one consisting of hex signs I noticed while shooting a video in Lancaster County. These signs, which are reproductions, were neatly tucked up under a roof eave along the Old Philadelphia Pike in Leacock Township.

When the skies are deep blue, they just call me. That’s what happened this day when I photographed a ferris wheel against the crisp sky. I like this image and I am adding it to my stock collection.

Spring arrived early this year, and the gorgeous weather just made the St Paddy’s Day parade in York, PA that much more enjoyable.

With temperatives in the mid-70′s (technically, it’s still winter here in southcentral Pennsylvania), folks were enjoying the festivities in shorts and tee-shirts. An old-fashioned small-town parade kicked off around 1 PM on St. Patrick’s Day. Bands marched through the center of the city as thousands lined the downtown streets.

These are the first proofs of the day – I created over 500 images. Many will be added to my online stock image bank.

The photo of the day is a historic marker in Pennsylvania of Bloody Rock, where a massacre occured.  Text on the sign reads, “On the night of July 3, 1778, after the Battle of Wyoming, fourteen or more captive American soldiers were murdered here by a maul wielded by a revengeful Indian woman, traditionally but not certainly identified as “Queen Esther.”

The marker is located on  Susquehanna Ave., between 7th & 8th Sts., in Wyoming.

The production was fantastic. I was not there as an official (or unofficial) photographer – but purely as a guest (full disclosure: my daughter Jen works there - she is the one responsible for the wigs and beards). I snapped this image with my iPhone before the show started. Copyright protection prohibts the use of cameras during the show, but oh how I would enjoy photographing this production. The vivid colors of the costumes and sets would make beautiful images.

It was a great show! Dispite a few technical glitches, the production is wonderful! The lighting, choreographer, costumes, and music created a delightful and magnificent production that visitors to Lancaster County will certainly enjoy.

My sites operate seamlessly – and you may not even realize you are switching from one URL to another – and that’s fine – that’s the way it is supposed to be!

On Saturday, March 24, the www.georgesheldonphotography.com site will be down for at least 8 hours. As part of the Photoshelter upgrade, I am also planning a major upgrade and change to my other two sites. The theme will change to a new color, new look, and new menu system. Watch for these changes – and many more. Private galleries will be just that: private, and no longer visible. I will also be expanding my online stock and image galleries. My goal is to have 200+ galleries online before the end of the year.

That means I have a lot of shooting to do – and I will be out and about doing just that.
